This free literacy program, offered in partnership between CVIJOBS and Vancouver Island University, is for adults who want to learn reading, spelling, writing, grammar, math, as well as English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL). Since 1989, this program has taught over 1100 students and trained more than 650 volunteer tutors. In September 2008, the program received additional funding to deliver ESL Settlement Assistance, specifically to assist Canadian Citizens, Landed Immigrants, and Convention Refugees. The Tutoring Program is supported through funding from the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia.
