How do I find work in the Parksville/Qualicum area, is a question we are often asked at the Career Centre.  Many people choose to make this area their home because of the beautiful environment and more peaceful lifestyle we enjoy here compared with other parts of Canada or even the World.  Yet, when they arrive, they are faced with the challenge of finding suitable employment in a very different market.  Recently a visitor to the Career Centre asked, are there any jobs other than flipping burgers?  We are very thankful for the people who work to make and serve us burgers and other convenience foods.  Many people find that food service jobs meet their employment needs very well and what would many of us do without those services?  However, newcomers to this area often come with other skills and want to do work that is meaningful for them.  So, the answer to the question is yes, there are many interesting options in the Parksville/Qualicum area.

To get started it is vital to start building a new network of contacts here.  That takes time one would say.  Yes, so a terrific place to start is at the Career Centre during Canada Career Week from November 4^th thought 10^th.  We have a variety of employers and people who have established successful careers for themselves available to speak with.  What a great way to get started.
