Well & Waterworks Technician – Assistant
Pay: $25–30/hour Depending on experience
Location: Parksville / Qualicum Beach (some travel to Vancouver & Sunshine Coast)
Job Type: Full-time, in-person
Requirements
Grade 12 education
Class 5 Driver’s License
Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy equipment
Strong work ethic, responsible, and able to work independently or with a team
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Interest in water/wastewater systems, including pumps, irrigation systems, and electrical controls
Mechanical aptitude, experience diagnosing and repairing equipment is an asset
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Experience with vehicles and small equipment (Bobcat, mini-excavator, compactors) is an asset
Familiarity with heavy equipment operation is preferred
What You’ll Do
Assist a licensed waterworks technician with designing, installing, and servicing well pumping systems and waterworks equipment
Work on small and large water and wastewater systems, including licensed drinking water systems
Help engineers with well pumping tests and well reconditioning
Assist in the transportation and setup of heavy equipment
Operate and maintain water treatment equipment and systems
Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs
Maintain accurate records of work performed
Follow safety procedures and work effectively with the team
