1. Contest Sponsor
The Your Stories - Our Legacy Contest (the "Contest") is sponsored and administered by Career Centre, operated by Central Vancouver Island Job Opportunities Building Society(CVIJOBS), #3-187 Bagshaw Street, Parksville, British Columbia, V9P 0J3.
2. Contest Period
The Contest begins at 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time on September 9, 2026 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on November 26, 2026 (the "Contest Period"). Entries received before or after the Contest Period are void.
3. Eligibility
The Contest is open to legal residents of British Columbia who, before the end of the Contest Period, are one or more of the following:
• a current or former client or program participant who received services from the Career Centre;
• a Hiring Fair attendee or employer
• a current or former tutoring student or tutoring volunteer;
• an employer, or employer representative, who used Career Centre services; or
• a community partner of the Career Centre.
An entrant who is under 19 years of age must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to enter. If the entrant is selected, the parent or legal guardian must complete any required declaration, release or prize-acceptance documentation on the minor’s behalf.
Current and former Employees or Directors of the Career Centre(CVIJOBS), and members of their households, are not eligible to enter.
The Career Centre may require proof of identity, British Columbia residency, eligibility and parental or guardian authority.
4. No Purchase Necessary and How to Enter
No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win.
During the Contest Period, an eligible person may enter by:
• completing and submitting the online Success Stories entry form made available by the Career Centre; or
• visiting the Career Centre during regular business hours and requesting assistance to complete and submit an entry.
An entry is complete only when all required information and consents have been provided and the entry has been successfully received by the Career Centre before the Contest closes. There is no charge for assisted entry.
5. Entry Requirements and Multiple Entries
Each eligible story is treated as a separate entry in the random draw. Accordingly, an entrant who submits more than one eligible, different story may have more than one opportunity to win more than one prize. Multiple entries are permitted, but each entry must tell a materially different and genuine story. Rewording or resubmitting the same story does not create an additional eligible entry.
The Career Centre may reject duplicate, incomplete, false, misleading, unintelligible, automated, altered, late or otherwise non-compliant entries.
Each entrant represents that the submitted story is truthful, is based on the entrant's own experience or authorized organizational experience, and does not infringe another person's rights or disclose confidential information without authority.
6. Permission to Use Submitted Stories
By entering, the entrant gives the Career Centre permission to review and edit the submitted story for length, clarity, grammar and accessibility. The entrant also gives the Career Centre permission to reproduce, publish and share the story in connection with its 50-year campaign, programs and communications, including in print, online, on social media and in other promotional materials, without payment.
If a story is selected for publication, the entrant will be identified according to their response to the question, “How would you like to be identified if your story is published?” The Career Centre will not intentionally publish the entrant’s legal name unless the entrant chooses to be identified that way or provides separate consent. Publication is separate from the random prize draw and is not guaranteed.
7. Prizes
The total approximate retail value of all prizes is $8,000 including accommodations, restaurants, golf passes and merchandise. Prize packages will be announced on www.careercentre.org.
Prizes must be accepted as awarded and cannot be transferred, substituted or redeemed for cash. Prizes that have been donated are subject to availability and to any terms or restrictions imposed by the prize donor. If a prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Career Centre’s reasonable control, the Career Centre may withdraw the prize without replacement and will not be responsible for providing a substitute prize or cash equivalent.
8. Random Draw and Odds of Winning
A random draw will take place on December 1, 2026 at the Career Centre, #3-187 Bagshaw Street, Parksville, British Columbia, from all eligible entries received during the Contest Period. The Career Centre will draw the number of entries required to award the available prizes. The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received. Because each eligible, different story is a separate entry, an entrant's odds may increase if that entrant submits additional eligible stories.
9. Winner Qualification, Notification and Skill-Testing Question
A selected entrant is not a winner unless and until the entrant:
• is confirmed eligible and complies with these Official Rules;
• correctly answers, without assistance, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question administered by the Career Centre. If you have a disability or other need that requires accommodation to complete the skill testing question, please contact info@careercentre.org when you are notified as a potential winner. The Career Centre will work with you to provide appropriate accommodation (for example, extra time, oral administration, assistive technology, or an alternative skill testing method) so that you can fairly participate)
• responds to the Career Centre's notification within seven calendar days after the Career Centre first attempts contact; and
• completes any declaration, release, parental consent or prize-acceptance documents reasonably required by the Career Centre.
If a selected entrant cannot be contacted, does not respond within seven calendar days, answers the skill-testing question incorrectly, declines the prize or fails to satisfy these conditions, the entrant will be disqualified and the Career Centre may select a replacement entry by random draw.
10. Winner Announcement and Prize Acceptance
Winners are expected to be announced on December 10, 2026, after all qualification requirements have been satisfied. If qualification is not complete by that date, a selected entrant will be announced only after the entrant has been confirmed as a winner.
All required prize-acceptance steps must be completed no later than 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time on December 23, 2026. However, if a replacement entrant is selected too late to receive the full seven-calendar-day response period before December 23, that entrant will have seven calendar days from the Career Centre’s first attempt to contact them.
An unaccepted or unclaimed prize may be forfeited and awarded to a replacement selected by random draw, subject to the same qualification requirements.
11. Privacy
Personal information collected for the Contest will be used to administer the Contest, verify eligibility, contact selected entrants, award prizes, obtain required consents and use submitted stories as authorized by these Official Rules and the entry form. Information will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy law and the Career Centre's privacy practices.
12. General Conditions
The Career Centre may verify entries and disqualify any person who tampers with the entry process, attempts to obtain an unfair advantage, submits fraudulent information, acts disruptively or fails to comply with these Official Rules.
Subject to applicable law, the Career Centre may cancel, suspend, extend or modify the Contest if fraud, technical failure, human error, public emergency or another event beyond the Career Centre's reasonable control affects the integrity or proper administration of the Contest. Any material change will be communicated through the Career Centre's usual public channels.
The Career Centre is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, misdirected, corrupted or technically unsuccessful entries, or for failures of networks, devices, websites or systems, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
If there is a discrepancy between promotional material and these Official Rules, these Official Rules govern. The Contest is subject to applicable federal and British Columbia laws. The Career Centre's decisions concerning administration of the Contest are final, subject to applicable law.
