Food Safety Education and Certification

Food safety certification is mandatory for people working in the food service industry. Individuals can complete food safety courses which focus on preparing, handling and serving food safely.

The Career Centre offers Food Safety 2024 for Food Handlers™ online, so it’s very convenient. You can complete both the modules and the exam in our computer lab or you can complete the modules at home and return to the Career Centre for the exam. This course is recognized by the B.C. Food Handlers’ Training Courses Equivalency Committee as meeting the training requirements of Section 10 of the B.C. Food Premises Regulation.

The online course and exam fee is $80, and can be paid at Career Centre. We only accept cash as we do not have equipment for processing electronic payments.

You may be eligible to have the fee covered by our funding, if:

• you are a job seeker working with one of our employment consultants, and/or
• you have a job offer but the employer needs you to have the food safety course completed in advance.
