Tell us about your business/organization and what makes you stand out as an employer?
We have been managing Horne Lake Caves as a provincial park for 30 years. We have to set a high bar for our staff in order to exceed expectations of running exceptional guided tours in a provincial park. Investing time goal-setting and getting to know your employees is more valuable than any training manual.
How many employees do you have?
Our staffing goes from 4-24 every season. About half of those are new recruits, although higher wages have helped re-attract record numbers of previous staff – a good sign!
What do you look for in a new employee?
Caring and sincere is a great place to start. Able to communicate clearly, positive, likes to connect with people, are primary attributes.
What advice would you give someone who wants to work for your organization?
Be flexible and have an unsinkable attitude.
